11 children from Avdiyivka and two kids from Slovyansk spent two weeks in our summer camp in Germany.
Avdiivka – city in the war torn eastern Ukraine. Since 2014 people there have been suffering from shelling and distress caused by the war. Children suffer the most – they spent more time in bomb shelters than at school, experiencing death and destruction with their own eyes. Some of them have lost their parents and siblings. Their everyday life is accompanied by explosion noise and fear. Each additional shelling leaves a deep wound in their soul.

Slowjansk – meanwhile peace has returned here. But it’s not so long ago that the city experienced months of occupation, chaos and lawlessness, tortures and heavy fire. And the war still continues not so far away from the city.

“Light and love are …” – at this workshop our kids talked about what they associate with the terms light and love. Then together they drew a large drawing.
“Paint the planet” – during the workshop they discovered some acrylic painting techniques.
Art therapeutic techniques such as image interpretation, self-reflection through relaxation techniques and self-portrayal were used in this workshops. The aim was to explore children’s creativity, broaden their mindsets and encourage them to express themselves creatively.
Our kids spent their free time with exciting games, which encouraged them to think in teams, develop creative and sophisticated strategies and logical thinking.
